Growing Up with Horror #4: My Top 10 Favorite Goosebumps Covers

We're back with my countdown of my favorite Goosebumps content! This time, we're counting down my favorite Goosebumps covers from the original series.

Now, they say not to judge a book by its cover, but that's impossible with Goosebumps books in the best way. These book covers literally oozed creepiness and made you want to read what was inside. This pairing of R.L. Stine's words with cover artist Tim Jacobus' masterful creations was a match made in horror heaven.

So why keep you waiting? Let's count down my top 10 Goosebumps covers!

#10. Don't Go to Sleep! - If I saw that hand coming out from beneath my bed, I don't think I'd be able to sleep either.

#9. Night of the Living Dummy - Just look at those eyes... Freaky!

#8. Say Cheese and Die! - Looks like a pleasant family having a dead good time... right?

#7. Egg Monsters From Mars - Just a gross cover, and I love it.

#6. The Werewolf of Fever Swamp - These colors are amazing. So haunting. Definitely gives you the sense there's a fever in them there swamps.

#5. The Haunted Mask - The absolute PERFECT Halloween mask.

#4. How to Kill a Monster - Again, I love the color pairing on this one. Oh, and the fact that the monster is FUZZY?? Hell yeah. I'd open the door.

#3. Calling All Creeps! - Lizard people? In a striped shirt and a backwards hat?? Fashion icon.

#2. Stay Out of the Basement - Don't have to tell me twice if I saw that hand at the door.

FUN FACT: Stay Out of the Basement is one of the two original Goosebumps covers not drawn by Tim Jacobus. It was done instead by artist Jim Thiesen.

#1. Beast from the East - One of the most imaginative covers in the entire series. I love the colors, and that creature is so cool!

Honorable Mention: Monster Blood II - C'mon. A giant mutant hamster? You know it had to be on the list somewhere.

Well, that's all folks. What do you think? Did I miss any of your favorite Goosebumps covers? Let me know in the comments below!
